Miss Gayle with student from Boynton Swim Academy
The Swim Academy’s unique teaching methods were developed hands on by the owners. Their swimming backgrounds and love of teaching created a successful swim program that enables children at a very young age to master basic swimming and survival skills. The Swim Academy is an active members of two nationally recognized infant and toddler swimming organizations; the American Red Cross and Swim America, and in addition to our own comprehensive approach to swim lessons we maintain all National and State Aquatic Safety certifications.
All Instructors at The Swim Academy are selected based on their previous experiences working with young children. All instructors working with children under 18 months of age have completed additional training and have extensive hands on swimming experience with infants.
Gayle Frechette, Owner
I began competing on a YMCA team when I was 5 years old. At age fifteen I became certified as a lifeguard and got my first aquatics job working at a summer camp. It was there that I first began teaching swimming. I later became certified as a Red Cross WSI, Lifeguard Instructor, and Swim America Site Director. I moved to Boca Raton in 1986 to study at FAU and received my BS in Exercise Physiology. I have been teaching swimming for over 25 years. I am truly fortunate to be able to take my love of swimming and love of teaching and be able to combine them into one great experience.
I have been teaching swim lessons in South Florida for over 20 years, my goal is to provide Boca Raton, Boynton Beach, and Lake Worth and the surrounding area parents with an extra measure of safety for their children. Each time I see a student roll onto his/her back and float, I get goose bumps. I look forward to working with your children, so they too will have these vital water safety skills. Should you have any questions about the Swim Academy’s programs or your child’s swimming lessons please feel free to contact me at gayle@theswimacademy.com
I began swimming at age four. I learned and eventually taught swimming in a Girl Scout Water-safety program. I received my BS degree in Recreation Management from East Carolina University and have extensive experience in Commercial Recreation and was a member of the Disney Team which brought me to Florida. I also have a background working with city Parks & Rec. I currently coordinate with Broward County’s Swim Central program the largest community water safety program in the United States.
I have been teaching swimming in South Florida for over 15 years, I now coordinate with National and local Drowing Prevention Programs and I focus on our Swim Academy’s in the Weston, Miramar and Margate areas and their surrounding communities. Please remember that nothing can take the place of adult supervision and water barriers.
