The Sea Lion Swim Teams and JFK Swim Club are members of the South Florida Recreational Swim League. The focus of the recreational league is on stroke and enduance improvement, while having fun in a “less competitive” atmosphere. Swimmers learn such things as starts and turns for each stroke, racing dives, and flip turns. Many improve their strokes and are introduced to butterfly for the first time. It is also the first time that many will compete in swim meets where the focus is on individual improvement and fun.
Practices are held year round Monday through Thursday after school and on some Saturday mornings in Lake Worth, and Weston, Florida. We offer both Recreational Team and Developmental Swim Club. The Developmental Club focuses more on stroke improvement and refinement while the Recreational Team is dedicated more towards stroke work, endurance, cross training and team spirit.
The swim team is designed to encourage maximum participation, provide an educational experience, enhance physical and mental conditioning, and develop a rich base of swimming talent. We strive to bring out the best in each individual through swimming. We challenge each individual to reach their full potential both in their swimming and in their character. Some want to participate in the Olympics. Some want to challenge themselves by achieving new goals.
A tough day at the Weston pool
Most just want to make new friends and have fun. The Swim Teams and Swim Clubs provide all of these opportunities. Our coaching staff will show athletes how to get ahead by teamwork, cooperation, and sense of fair play. We teach goal setting, determination, and commitment.
Swimmers age 6 years and older who are able to swim 25 yards of Freestyle, Backstroke, and Breaststroke are welcome to participate. We also offer several pre-team group levels for those swimmers who are not quite ready to start on the teams and still need some stroke and endurance work. Check out our group lesson page here.
